What's new in 2.4.4

  • Desktop: pre-release updates are now opt-in under Settings > Updates > Beta updates. Beta testers need to turn it on once after this update
  • Improve scale reading indicator
  • Fixes fingerprint reader on newer Android versions
  • Greatly improve fingerprint reader transfer speeds
  • Prints buyer/carrier side-by-side on BOLs
  • Fixes a long delay when using NFC readers
  • Adds support for webcams to the desktop target
  • Fixes an intermittent issue with adding drivers/vendors to a ticket
  • Fixes a re-taken item photo still showing the original photo after upload
  • Fixes the Prices screen reporting a "network error" for accounts with no default price list; it now offers to create one
  • IP camera streams: snapshots are instant and full resolution (taken from the live preview instead of opening a second connection), the preview starts faster with less lag, prefers TCP for a cleaner picture on Wi-Fi (falling back to UDP for cameras that need it), retries after a dropped connection, and shows an error instead of a black box when the stream fails
  • IP cameras that offer both a video stream and snapshots now show the live stream, falling back to snapshot polling only when the stream cannot be played
  • IP camera previews appear immediately again: snapshots are shown until the live stream's first frame arrives, a stream the tablet cannot decode switches to snapshots at once instead of after several retries, and a picture taken before the stream is ready uses the camera's snapshot instead of failing
  • IP cameras found through ONVIF now stream the highest-resolution profile the tablet can actually decode (for example the 1080p sub-stream instead of a 2688x1512 main stream), so live video works on cameras that previously only showed snapshots
  • IP camera settings: a Test camera button shows a live preview (or the connection error) using the settings on screen, a warning appears when the username or password is blank, and edited settings take effect without restarting the app
  • IP camera discovery finds cameras that advertise an out-of-date address (seen on Lorex), and works on desktops where another service already uses the discovery port
  • Android 17: the camera list asks for the new local-network permission that camera discovery needs
  • Fixed: pictures taken from an IP camera's snapshot were cut off at the bottom (the file was written without its last few kilobytes)
